Chair and Registered Contact

Peter Lamb has been the Member of Parliament for Crawley since July 2024.

Peter was the Labour councillor for Northgate and West Green, having represented Northgate as a councillor from 2010 until July 2024. From 2012 to 2022, he served as Leader of the Labour Group on Crawley Borough Council, for eight years of which as Council Leader. Outside of Crawley Borough Council, he represented Northgate and Three Bridges on West Sussex County Council from 2013 to 2017 and was the Labour parliamentary candidate for Crawley at the 2019 General Election.

Born and educated in Crawley, Peter joined the Labour Party whilst still a student at Holy Trinity, having come to realise the unfair life opportunities felt by many of his classmates. Two decades on, reversing child poverty and Crawley’s appallingly limited social mobility continue to be two of his biggest political motivations. As Leader of Crawley Borough Council, Peter oversaw the return of council housebuilding to a scale not seen in decades, the development and implementation of plans designed to improve economic opportunities for Crawley residents, and balanced budgets which until the pandemic successfully avoided the loss of any frontline services despite budget cuts from central government.

Prior to being election to Parliament, Peter worked as a social researcher, providing insight for the NHS and other public sector bodies on how to best meet the needs and expectations of service users.

Peter was elected as the Chair of the APPG on Wellbeing Economics in July 2025.
